Turning Five: Still Alive, Here to Thrive
Help us wrap up five years stronger than ever, and prepare us for the next five

Two Campaigns One Goal
Turning Five, Here to Thrive
The goal: raise $30,000 to break free from the high-interest loan cycle and ensure a sustainable future for Swanson’s.
Why Now: Swanson’s has grown by meeting a real need in the community, but to keep up, we've had to rely on high-interest loans that are currently draining our resources.
What exactly you will be funding: Catching up on rent and quarterly taxes.
Bring Adena to Western Mass
The goal: raise $10,000 to relocate Adena and her two daughters to Western Mass from Ohio to support a sustainable future for Swanson’s. Okay, but who is Adena?
Why Now: The current cultural climate is expediting a long-term plan of getting Adena to Mass! With her and her family safely here, Adena will be able to do all she does now in the Stash House and further support her team and community.
What exactly you will be funding: Moving costs, and paid time off for Adena to acclimate her and her family to Western Mass.
The Goal: a sustainable future for Swanson’s.
Swanson’s is backed and built by the support of everyday folks who believe in our mission to make sewing more accessible by providing affordable fabric and fiber art supplies while rescuing stashes from a fate in the landfill!
We hope that you will continue to support us 💕

OLD LETTER
Five Years of Fabric, Friendship, and Fiber Rescue —
And We’re Just Getting Started
Five years ago, with just my pandemic check, I opened Swanson’s Fabrics with a simple idea: to facilitate the generational exchange of fabrics, textiles, and skills through a space that could both receive the abundance we’ve all collected and nourish the next generation’s hunger to learn, create, and carry these traditions forward.
Since then, our little shop has been a safe passage for tens of thousands of pounds of fabric looking for new homes. We are helping countless people create something meaningful, and have become a vital resource for teachers, quilters, students, theater folks, cosplayers, menders, and makers of all kinds.
We’ve built something incredible, and we have been learning and getting stronger as we go. To keep it going — and grow it into what it wants to become — we need your help.
This summer, as we celebrate 5 years, we’re launching our Five Years of Swanson’s: Building What’s Next campaign — a community-powered fundraiser to raise $35,000 by July 30th. These funds will:
Catch us up on rent without another predatory loan
Pay off our (predatory) loans and stop the high-interest spiral
Cover a $10,000 tax bill
Move Adena and her family safely to western Massachusetts to make our team stronger than ever
Keep our materials and classes accessible priced for everyone
Swanson’s isn’t backed by investors or big grants. We run on fabric, friendship, and community (and a few total-bummer-loans). And now, at five years old, we need a little help to stabilize and prepare for what’s next.
If this store has ever inspired you, surprised you with a great deal, helped you finish a project (or start one), please consider donating. Even $10 makes a difference, it shows larger donors just how many people are rooting for us. And sharing the campaign is a huge help, too.
Swanson’s belongs to all of us — Can you help us wrap up an incredible five years together?
Help us honor the last five years and make the next five even better.
