Please read our FAQ below for answers to our most frequently asked questions. Due to the large volume of emails we receive and the small size of our team, questions covered in the FAQ are unlikely to receive a response. Thank you for your understanding!

There is a base shipping price of $8 for all orders we ship.
Our shipping costs are based on the weight of your order and are automatically calculated by the website at checkout; this means that the heavier your order, the more expensive the shipping will be.
Any cost paid over what the shipping company charges us goes towards compensating our amazing fulfillment team and the software we use for shipping.
We know that, unfortunately, for many, shipping charges make shopping in our online store cost-prohibitive. This is a downside to being a small business online, but we are just as committed to fairly compensating our team as we are keeping fabric out of the landfill!
We appreciate your understanding and suggest that, when available, you shop with us in-store or support your local creative reuse center :)

No, we do not purchase inventory or offer consignment services.

We are unfortunately unable to assist or respond to inquires for specific itemsdue to the consider volume of the requests and the size of our inventory.
Here are a few tips if you are looking for something specific:
If you are local, pop in; things move through the store so quickly that we can't say for sure what we have in.
If you aren't local, we can occasionally offer Hunt and Peck services for specific requests where our personal shopper can look through our stock for what you need and then go through it with you to decide what you are interested in. The appointment costs $25 to schedule, which would go towards your total, which is the cost of fabric+time +shipping. Please note these appointments are best for people who have a theme “I need blue bottom weight fabrics” as opposed to “I am looking for blue fabrics with clouds, daises, and peace signs.” If you are interested, send us a note requesting to schedule for Hunt and Peck.

Exchanges are accepted within 30-days of purchase in our shop. We do not accept mail-in returns.

At this time, we do not offer international shipping.

We work with a wonderful repairman, Carl!
Bring your machine into The Shop or The Stash House, and Carl will pick it up.
Basic Servicing is $65; if the machine needs any repair beyond that, he will contact you first.

We do not offer any professional sewing services.

We are not currently looking for new staff.
That said when we do hire it is from folks that are already active in our community. People who’ve volunteered, been guest instructors, attended fellowship events.
The best way to get a job at Swanson’s Fabrics is to come hang out!
