Kathryn’s Work

it’s good for the Planet 🌎

Using the fabrics you’d rather not put against your skin, if you can get it into strips, it can be put into a rug! That’s what makes this the craft of the #TrashRich! It keeps textiles out of the landfill and lets you give them new life as a household treasure.

Braided-In Rug FAQs

  • You do not need any prior experience to participate in this class- I find that half of my students get it on the first try and half of my students get it on the second! After class, you will get a recording to refresh your memory as needed.

  • Please come with: 2 contrasting woven fabrics (about two/three yards each - bedsheets work well), scissors, a needle, and thread. That's it!

  • If you can put it into strips, it can be put into a rug.

However, for class, I suggest a woven fabric (old bedsheets work great!)

  • You do not need to process your fabric ahead of time; I will show you how to prepare your strips :)
